Minutes
Welcome Michael Falcone welcomed Mayor Elect Berry Vrbanovic
Berry Vrbanovic addressed the members extending Mayor Carl Zehr
Kitchener Berry thanked the BIA staff and Board of Directors for keeping things on track. He also welcomed and
congratulated Linda Jutzi as the new Executive Director of the Downtown Kitchener BIA.
2014 Semi-Annual

Report
Linda reported BIA initiatives that have taken place since she became Executive, citing the Town Hall
that took place in October prior to the AGM. The Town Hall meeting was an opportunity for members to attend
and review the budget that was to be approved at the AGM. Linda also reported that through the strategic
initiatives the BIA has committed 50% of the total budget towards the categories of beautification, marketing
and events. Linda also offered to share the Town Hall presentation with anyothat was unable to attend the
Town Hall. Linda acknowledged Mayor Carl Zehr as being a visionary in estab
revitalization of Downtown and she congratulated and welcomed mayor-elect Berry Vrbanovik.
Linda reported that a Member Advisory Committee is in place and meets monthly at the BIA office. With
to events, Members can now participate in an on-line survey after each event and offer feedback so each event
can be reviewed by the Member Advisory Committee and the Board. rted there will be more focus on
digital advertising citing these are platforms for interaction a

Budget
Stewart gave a detailed report of the 2015 Budget. Moya Spruce asked if the Ambassador salaries are included
in this. The response was that those salaries are through the revenue Canada youth program.

Christine announced that a new committee has been put in place to help the downtown busines
with the social issues of the downtown core. She announced that
November 24 for an opportunity for any business owner to attend and discover ways to help their business

cope with vagrancy and pan handling in the downtown. She also announced th
of The Cold Programs there are shelters available 24/7 from November 1 to April 30 to anyone needing them.

Dawn Phillips-Brown
Directors
Vice Chair Dawn Phillips-Brown explained the bylaw for elections and the reason we are ho
this AGM. Moya Spruce asked if elected directors are on for four puts
the elected board members in place for four years keeping in line with the municipal election. The only names
put forth to run were the nine directors there are 12 seats on the Board. The Governance team will be loo
for candidates to fill the three vacancies.

Linda Presented the slate of directors and called for a show of
the slate of Directors. The Board was approved.
Other Business
Moya Spruce asked if the BIA knows how many businesses have left the
downtown this year.
Troy Wideman and Anita Petshe requested pedestrian counts.
Troy Wideman would like to see the streets cleaner.
Linda Jutzi noted all the requests and will investigate options to get the answers.
Linda referred to the beautification partnership that she workin
the City and perhaps private developers.
Anita Petshe inquired about the recycling bins being taken away
downtown.
Cory Bluhm said the recycling bins were being contaminated with therefore they
were no longer useful. The Region contract is up at the end of t
that the city will be able to negotiate more support for garbageowntown.
