HomeMy WebLinkAboutEnv - 2015-12-17 - Item 2 - Idlewood Creek Restoration Class Environment Assessment ENGINEERING SERVICES NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE NO. 2 SCHEDULE B CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT Idlewood Creek (Fairway Road to Outlet at Grand River) The Study Schedule B Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study to address long term sedimentation and erosion issues in Idlewood Creek as well as investigate whether there are any issues with two online dams. The project will develop a comprehensive sedimentation and erosion improvement plan for Idlewood Creek that (INSERT MAP) will address current concerns in the City of Kitchener. The Process The City is conducting the Class EA study in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Act, October 2000,as amended (in 2007 & 2011), in compliance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA process includes public and regulatory agency consultation, evaluation of project alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements, and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse environmental impacts . Upon completion of this study, documentation of the planning process and a Notice of Completion shall be issued, allowing the public a 30 calendar day period during which documentation may be reviewed and comment and input received. The process will be submitted to the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC). Accordingly, the second in a series of 2 Public Information Centres (PIC) will be held as follows: Date: December 8, 2015 Time: 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Presentation begins at 7:30 pm Location: Franklin Public School 371 Franklin St. N, Kitchener The purpose of this PIC is to present the preferred alternatives to the public. Representatives from the City and the Consultant Team will be present at this drop-in information session to answer questions and discuss the next steps in this study. Comments Public consultation is vital to the Class EA process. The City wishes to ensure that anyone with an interest in this study has the opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made on a preferred concept for the watercourse improvements.
