Tandem Rear Axle Conventional Cab and Chassis RECOMMENDATION: That Tender T15 -062 Four (4) 29,936 kg (64,000 lb) G.V.W. Tandem Rear Axle Conventional Cab and Chassis, be awarded to Team Truck Centres, Kitchener, Ontario at their tendered price of $444,000., plus H.S.T. of $57,720., for a total of $501,720. BACKGROUND: These units will replace four (4) tandem rear axle cab and chassis (units 511, 201302, 201303 and 986320 in INS — Operations), as approved for replacement in the 2015 Annual Fleet Equipment Review. The units will be used for road repairs, sewer repairs, snow plowing and utility repairs. Unit 511 is eight (8) years old and has had engine problems. A cost analysis was completed and it was determined that the cost to fix the engine on unit 511 was not cost effective. Units 201302 and 201303 are 15 years old and unit 986320 is 17 years old. These units have a ten (10) year life cycle. REPORT: This Tender was advertised publicly on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Documents were downloaded by ten (10) interested parties and by the closing date of Thursday July 16, 2015, two (2) tenders had been received. Tenders were reviewed by M. Born, Manager of Fleet, who concurs with the above recommendation. * ** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. The City of Kitchener's purchasing policies and practices ensure openness, fairness and transparency in the procurement of goods and services. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The net cost for this tender (A), is fair and reasonable for purchase of this scope and the upset limit is within the budget allowance (B) provided within the. budget. Funding for this equipment is included within the approved capital budget. The estimated surplus (D) will remain within the Equipment Reserve Fund to fund future equipment purchases.
