The subcommittee would like to discuss sections of community's key priorities at this meeting as well as the next two meetings. They will be looking for input from the committee to help in development of measurements for the report card. • This meeting will focus on Open Government and the Economy. The following comments from the committee were received on each of these sections: • Open Government: • Ensure accurate data that is up to date and relevant. • Clarification on what achievement looks like and the difference between customer experience and citizen centered service. • Cultural expectations of customer service could also be considered. • Laurie clarified Community Engagement review was a request from Council. • Disclosure of city records was discussed, with clarity provided that this would support residents in understanding how decisions are made at the city, and how we can ease interactions for our residents. It is also important for the information provided to be organized in a way that residents can easily access and understand. • Measurements need to reflect the strategy within the strategic priority, not the specific potential action outline in the presentation. • Economy: • Creating a competitive advantage by attracting people to the city, encouraging job growth, resulting in decreased employment rate. • The committee considered the city's position in stimulating innovation and job creation, or rather building an environment that will be supportive of this. • Could consider what the new Kitchener Economic Development Strategy and Waterloo Regional Economic Development Corporation will be identifying as priorities and use their measurements. • This may also be a good area to consider quality of life and building a city that encourages growth resident wise that will support business startups and industry. • Could consider what measurements Economic Development already has in place, potentially why people decide to open a business here and /or why students stay after their program is complete. • Consider measurable from past report cards within quality of life. • The City of Kitchener has made a commitment to inclusion, belonging and wellbeing through specific strategies within the Neighbourhood section of the Strategic Plan. The Region of Waterloo has a significate role in addressing issues related to diversity and have specific programs for that purpose. 4.
