We have a few activities identified so far but the main one is the Kitchener Natural Areas Program (KNAP) event on the 30 April 2016. There are also community clean-ups and the GreenCity (City of Kitchener employees) committee was asking about the possibility of an event for Earth Hour. We are happy to support the Environmental Committee if they would like to run something or get involved. Please let me know if you have any questions. IF1 - 1 Earth Hour Saturday, March 19, from 8:30-9:30pm. Earth Hour is not just about one hour. It’s about going Beyond the Hour with lasting, behaviour-changing actions for a sustainable Saturday March 28 planet. Turn off your lights AND turn on your 8:30 Ï 9:30 pm motivation to go green. Organize Your Own Clean-up of a local park, public space or school yard. Register your clean-up with the City of Kitchener for supplies and support. Community groups registering a clean-up in the month of April receive prizes provided by the City of Kitchener, while supplies last. Schools who register a clean-up with the City of Kitchener will be entered in a draw for 1 of 10 environmental improvement grants. Register for supplies at www.kitchener.ca/earthday KNAP Earth Day Celebration Saturday, April 30, 1-4 p.m. Huron Natural Area, 801 Trillium Dr. in Kitchener. Free activities for the whole family! Includes live demonstrations of birds of prey by the Canadian Raptor Conservancy, bird box building, tree planting, crafts and other Kitchener’s Natural Areas Program activities. We will be hosting our grand opening for our Discover Nature in the City new Natural Playscape and celebrating our newly created and environmentally friendly permeable parking lot. www.kitchener.ca/earthday IF1 - 2
