NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST 78 FRANCIS STREET
NORTH SCHOOL OFROCK

RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to The School of Rock at 78 Francis Street North for ten outdoor performances
taking place on June 21, 2016 from 6:30PM to 9:00PM, July 15, 22, 29, 2016 andAugust
19, 2016 from 2:30PM to 4:00PM, August 4, 2016 and September 14, 15, 21 and 22, 2016
from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.
BACKGROUND:
The School of Rock students will be showcasing their talents at the Kitchener campus.The
events will be taking place outdoors and will include live music. Thus they are requesting an
exemption from the City-law (Chapter 450).
REPORT:
This summer and fall the School of Rock will be hosting ten outdoor performances. Their music
students will have an opportunity to play outdoors and showcase their talents. The outdoor
events will take place on June 21, 2016 from 6:30PM to 9:00PM, July 15, 22, 29, 2016 and
August 19, 2016 from 2:30PM to 4:00PM, August 4 and September 14, 15, 21 and 22, 2016
from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.The School of Rock has committed to notifying the area properties
about the events.
The By-Law Enforcement office received one complaint about loud music in 2014. Staff
responded and received cooperation from the event organizer.
