HomeMy WebLinkAboutCSD-16-041 - Noise Exemption - Holy Trinity Serbian Church REPORT TO: Community & Infrastructure Services DATE OF MEETING: May 30, 2016 SUBMITTED BY: Gloria MacNeil, Interim Director of By-law Enforcement, 519-741- 2200, ext. 7952 PREPARED BY: Gloria MacNeil, Interim Director of By-law Enforcement, 519-741- 2200, ext. 7952 WARD(S) INVOLVED: 6 DATE OF REPORT: May 12, 2016 REPORT NO.: CSD-16-041 SUBJECT: NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST - HOLY TRINITY SERBIAN CHURCH 700 FISCHER HALLMAN ROAD ___________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATION: That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church at 700 Fischer Hallman Road, for two (2) festivals to be held on July 30 and July 31, 2016, between the hours of 11AM and 11 PM and August 28, 2016, between the hours of 11AM and 11:00 PM. BACKGROUND: The Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church at 700 Fischer Hallman Road typically holds 2 festivals each summer season involving activities that occur outdoors. As in past years, they are requesting a noise exemption. REPORT: These festivals are annual events.The July event is known as the Serbian Food Festival and the August event is the annual Bull Roast. Staff report that no complaints were received during either of these events last year. Staff have worked with representatives of the Church to address concerns that have been raised in the past. As a result the representatives distributed a communications piece in the adjacent residential neighbourhood, to advise of the 2 events and will do so again this year.
