NOISE EXEMPTION REQUEST 124 OTTAWA STREET
SOUTH-SHERWOOD SHINDIG STREET PARTY

RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be
granted to Pat Lackenbauer for an outdoor street party at 124 Ottawa Street South
between the hours of 10:00AM and 11PM on July 28, 2016.
BACKGROUND:
Pat Lackenbauer is organizing the Sherwood Shindig Street Party on Nyberg Street, from
Ottawa Street South to Borden Avenue which is taking place on July 28, 2016. This will be an
outdoor event that will include live music; thus they are
Noise By-law (Chapter 450).
REPORT:
The Sherwood Shindig Street Party is a free community based music and food event, that is
being held to promote all the businesses affected by LRT construction, in the Nyberg and
surrounding areas and to raise money for the Red Cross-Fort McMurray Fund. The event will
include food truck vendors and live music from 5pm until 10:30pm. Staff have made
arrangements to have an onsite contact person during the event to help address any concerns
that may arise.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The aforementioned amendments support the Community Priority of Quality of Life, as
contained in

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
The event organizer is responsible for ensuring that this event
is communicated throughout the community in advance of the event.
