2. BIKECHECK
Mr. Pimentel provided the committee with a detailed description of the Bikecheck service
that will be provided by The City of Kitcheners BikeKitchener at events throughout the
summer.
Mr. Pimentel invited committee members to sign up as volunteers for the service and
provide their feedback:
Mr. Hoshowsky commented on the City of Waterloos Bike Valet service and noted
that we should make users aware of closing hours. Mr. Pimentel explained the
Bikecheck closing routine to the committee and described how bikes that had not
been picked up would be handled.
Mr. Boos shared that making users sign a waiver might make the process too difficult
and time consuming. Ms. Fox suggested an online waiver might be easier. Mr.
Hoshowsky thought it might be best to record name and number on the back of the
ticket that stays with the bike.
Mr. Drasdo suggested that the free aspect of the service should be emphasized
more in the advertising.

social media is handled by The City of Kitcheners communications department and
went over the communications process.
Committee members provided staff with alternative platforms for communications and
advertising:
Mr. Hoshowsky suggested the record as a place to advertise events and Bikecheck.
He also mentioned 5 fun things to do this weekend by CBC.
Ms. Fox suggested Snapped KW.
Ms. Rodriguez mentioned the community addition as another way to get the word
out.
4. CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE

committee members to review. The committee was able to gather around the drawings
and provide staff with feedback.
5. WATERLOO REGIONAL POLICE SERVICES MEETING DEBRIEF
Mr. Pimentel provided the committee with an overview of plans for BikeFest 2016. He
reminded the committee that the deadline for vendors was fast approaching and
encouraged them to spread the word and reach out to the public to get more people to
attend.
Mr. Drasdo asked what was left to be done for the event to be successful. Mr.
Pimentel went over a to do list and pointed out items that the committee could
help complete.
Mr. Pimentel inquired if there was still interest in having a committee booth at BikeFest.
The committee indicated that they were still interested and began working out the details
for the day.
Mr. Boos suggested breaking the volunteers into one hour shifts and said he
would send out a doodle pole for committee members to sign up for time slots.
