HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-11-24 DOWNTOWN ACTION & ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES November 24, 2016 City of Kitchener The Downtown Action & Advisory Committee met this date, commencing at 4:05 Present: Melissa Bowman, Chair; Councillor Frank Etherington; David Harmes; Dean Knipfel; Jessica Kropf; Christine Marchaud; Brian Santos; Brad Watson; Don Zehr and Linda Zensner Staff: Cory Bluhm, Manager of Downtown Development Eric Rumble, Downtown Marketing & Program Coordinator Kim Feere, Manager, Kitchener Market Sandy Curzon, Committee Administrator 1. Downtown Action Plan The Downtown Action Plan 2017-2020 is now under review. Today DAAC members brainstormed ideas under the following topics: 1. What do you value about downtown today? 2. Think about Downtown 2020. ION is up and running. What does Downtown look like to you? What is important to you? 3. What ideas do you have that will shape downtown moving forward? Next Steps: Over the next month, the DTK 2020 survey will be circulated electronically as well as numerous roundtable discussions with various stakeholder groups. Results will be presented to DAAC in 2017. 2. DAAC Terms of Reference Downtown Action & Advisory Committee Terms of Reference was last amended August 27, 2012. The current Committee Composition and Reporting, item #2 of Council Policy #I-90 was discussed in order to determine the best possible use of resources to meet the current needs of DAAC moving forward. Through discussion, Committee agreed to increase the number of City Resident representatives by reducing the number of Businesses and Developers when necessary to keep the overall compliment to fifteen members. Next Steps: A staff report will be presented to City Council January 9, 2017 recommending an amendment to Council Policy I-90 item #2 Committee Composition and Reporting. 3. Adjournment C.
