BACKGROUND: Pinnacle Drive is a minor collector roadway within the Lower Doon community consisting of primarily residential land use. In response to a request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. On-street parking is prohibited at any time on the east (even numbered) side of Pinnacle Drive from Doon Valley Drive to a point 94 metres north thereof and on the west (odd numbered) side of Pinnacle Drive from Doon Valley Drive to a point 49 metres north thereof. Parking is currently permitted on the west (odd numbered) side of Pinnacle Drive from a point 49 metres north of Doon Valley Drive to Old Mill Road for a maximum period of three consecutive hours. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 2 - 1 REPORT: Transportation Services received a request to review the existing on-street parking regulations. The request specifically cited safety concerns when vehicles park along Pinnacle Drive and impede sightlines for vehicles exiting the townhouse complex access at 105 Pinnacle Drive. After reviewing sightlines on Pinnacle Drive, Transportation Services has determined that overall road user safety would be improved if the existing on-street parking prohibition on the west (odd-numbered) side of Pinnacle Drive from Doon Valley Drive to a point 49 metres north thereof was extended 29 metres north of its current terminus to a point 78 metres north of Doon Valley Drive. Accordingly, residents in the immediate area were notified of this proposed parking regulation change in December 2016. Transportation Services has not received any responses or input from these residents. The proposed parking prohibition in this area will provide safer traffic operations on Pinnacle Drive. It is important to note that the proposed parking prohibition would result in the loss of approximately three (3) legal on- street parking spaces. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city’s strategic vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for implementing “No Parking Anytime” signage is $300 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM – This report has been posted to the city’s website with the agenda in advance of the council / committee meeting.
