BACKGROUND: Forfar Avenue is a local roadway with primarily residential land use. In response to a resident request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. Currently, on-street parking is permitted at anytime on both sides of ForfarAvenue for a maximum period of three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-Law No. 2007-138. REPORT: Transportation Services received a request to review the existing on-street parking regulations. The request cited difficulty accessing residential driveways when vehicles park along both sides of Forfar Avenue and accredited the issues to overflow parking generated by an area business. Residents of Forfar Avenue were notified of the proposal to remove on-street parking along the east (odd-numbered) side of Forfar Avenue through a survey mailed out in February 2017. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the c vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for implementing signage along this section of Forfar Avenue is $300 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM This report has been posted to the ciadvance of the council / committee meeting. The constituents were made aware of the proposed changes to the on-street parking regulations in this section of Forfar Avenue through a mail out sent in March 2017 CONSULT Directly affected constituents were surveyed regarding this proposed parking regulation change in February 2017.
