REPORT NO.: INS-17-023
SUBJECT: On-Street Parking Regulations Forfar Avenue
___________________________________________________________________________
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That parking be prohibited at any time on the east (odd numbered) side of Forfar
Avenue from Rothsay Avenue to a point 230 metres south of Rothsay Avenue;
and further,
That the Uniform Traffic Bylaw be amended accordingly.
BACKGROUND:
Forfar Avenue is a local roadway with primarily residential land use. In response to a
resident request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. Currently, on-street
parking is permitted at anytime on both sides of ForfarAvenue for a maximum period of
three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-Law
No. 2007-138.
REPORT:
Transportation Services received a request to review the existing on-street parking
regulations. The request cited difficulty accessing residential driveways when vehicles
park along both sides of Forfar Avenue and accredited the issues to overflow parking
generated by an area business.
Residents of Forfar Avenue were notified of the proposal to remove on-street parking
along the east (odd-numbered) side of Forfar Avenue through a survey mailed out in
February 2017. The results of the survey are as follows:
