BACKGROUND: Through working with the Central Frederick Neighbourhood Association (CFNA) on other park initiatives (the installation of community boards),Operations, Environmental Services division staff received a formal request to name the park located at 11 Gordon Ave. to Gordon Park, (alternatively Gordon Green or Gordon Parkette). Figure 1: 11 Gordon Ave. Park Location REPORT: In accordance with City Policy I-475 Naming/Re-Naming Corporate Facilities, staff performed abackground file review and determined that the internal data base system had identified the 0.06ha site as Mansion Green, although it was unclear as to whether a park sign was ever installed. Currently, a sign identifying the park name does not exist. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 6 - 1 The CFNA through their Facebook page identifies general support that the Gordon (Park, Green or Parkette,) name is preferred over Mansion Green. The CFNA also acknowledges that the Mansion Green name is confusing for the neighbourhood as the community garden at Weber Park is also locally referred to as Mansion Green.
