SUBJECT: On-Street Parking Regulations Bridlewreath Street

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That stopping be prohibited from 8:00AM-9:30AM and 2:30PM-4:00PM, Monday to
Friday, between September 1 and June 30, on the north (even-numbered) side of
Bridlewreath Street from Activa Avenue to Bridlewreath Court; and further,
That the Uniform Traffic Bylaw be amended accordingly.
BACKGROUND:
Bridlewreath Street is a local roadway with primarily residential land use. In response to
a resident request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. Currently, on-
street parking is permitted at anytime on both sides of Bridlewreath Streetfor a
maximum period of three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener
Uniform Traffic By-Law No. 2007-138.
REPORT:
Transportation Services reviewed the on-street parking regulations in response to a
citizen request. The request cited difficulty accessing and egressing both the street and
driveways when vehicles were parked on both sides of the street during school pick-up
and drop-off times.
Residents of Bridlewreath Street were notified of the proposal to prohibit stopping on the
north (even-numbered) side of Bridlewreath Street between Activa Avenue and
Bridlewreath Court through a survey mailed out inFebruary 2017. The results of the
survey are as follows:

Based on the feedback collected from residents, Transportation Services is
recommendingthat the current on-street parking regulations be amended to prohibit
stopping during the periods of 8:00AM 9:30AM and 2:30PM 4:00PM, Monday to
Friday, September 1 to June 30on the north (even-numbered) side of Bridlewreath
Street from Activa Avenue to Bridlewreath Court.This will improve driveway access and
safety for all road users.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the c
vision through the delivery of core service.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The approximate cost for implementing signage along this section of
Bridlewreath Street is $300 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance
budget.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT:
INFORM This report has been posted to the ciadvance
of the council / committee meeting. The constituents were made aware of the proposed
changes to the on-street parking regulations in this section of Bridlewreath Street
through a mail out sent in March 2017
CONSULT Directly affected constituents were surveyed regarding this proposed
parking regulation change in February 2017.
