BACKGROUND: Queen Street North is a city arterial roadway with mixed residential, office and commercial land use. In response to a request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. Currently on-street parking is prohibited at any time on the east (odd- numbered) side of Queen Street North from Duke Street to Weber Street. Additionally, on-street stopping is prohibited between 11:30a.m. 12:30p.m., 4:30p.m 5:30p.m., Monday - Friday on the east side of Queen Street North from Duke Street to Weber Street and at any time on the west side of Queen Street North from Duke Street to a point 85 metres north thereof. REPORT: Transportation Services received a request to review the existing on-street parking regulations The request cited the need for a loading zone because all adjacent on-street parking was removed on Duke Street due to the development of the LRT. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 2 - 1 were surveyed regarding a proposal on the east (odd- numbered) side of Queen Street North from a point 30 metres north of Duke Street to a point 10 metres north thereof.The results of the survey are as follows: Proposal A:I (odd-numbered) side of Queen Street North from a point 30 metres 6 (100%) north of Duke Street to a point 10 metres north thereof Proposal B:Leave existing on-street parking as is0 (0%) TOTAL 6 out of 16 (37.5% responded) Based on the feedback collected from the local businesses, Transportation Services is recommendingthat the current on-street parking regulations be amended to permit loading at any time for a maximum period of 30 minutes on the east (odd-numbered) side of Queen Street from a point 30 metres north of Duke Street to a point 10 metres north thereof. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the c vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for implementing signage along this section of Queen Street North is $200 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM This report has been posted to the ciadvance of the council / committee meeting. Affected citizens were made aware of the proposed changes to the on-street parking regulations in this section of Queen Street North through a mail out sent in May 2017 CONSULT Directly affected citizens were surveyed regarding this proposed parking regulation change in March 2017.
