SUBJECT:NOISE EXEMPTION- NIGHT SHIFT EVENT GOUDIES LANE-
SEPTEMBER 14, 2017

RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code
be granted for an additional Night Shift Event in Goudies Lane that will be hosted
byDowntown Special Eventson September 14, 2017 between 6pm-10pm.
BACKGROUND:
The Special Events office would like to add an additional event to the Goudies Lane
Event schedule. The event would fall under the Night Shift Events that have occurred in
Goudies Lane over the summer months and would take place on September 14, 2017
between 6pm-10pm. This additional date was not captured by the blanket Downtown
Special Events exemptionfor 2017.
REPORT:
There have been several events held with great success in Goudies Lane throughout the
summer of 2017 and the Special Events staff wouldlike to add an additional Night Shift Event,
that will include a couple of live bands and some social activity before, between and after the
live music. There will be a closure of Goudies Lane between Queen and Ontario during the
period of the event.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city’s strategic
vision through the delivery of core service.
