BACKGROUND: Mansion Street is a local roadway with primarily residential land use. In response to a resident request, on-street parking regulations have been reviewed. Currently, on-street parking is permitted at anytime on the west side of Mansion Street from Edna Street to Dunham Avenuefor a maximum period of three (3) consecutive hours, as outlined in the City of Kitchener Uniform Traffic By-Law No. 2007-138. REPORT: Transportation Services received a request to review the existing on-street parking regulations. The request cited difficulty accessing residential driveways, resulting in potential safety concerns. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 9 - 1 Residents of Mansion Street were notified of the proposal to modify on-street parking along the west (even-numbered) side of Mansion Street through a survey mailed out in May 2017. The results of the survey are as follows: Proposal A:Prohibit parking at any time on the west (even- numbered) side of Mansion Street between Edna Street to a point 3(75%) approximately 49 metres south thereof Proposal B:Leave existing on-street parking as is 1 (25%) TOTAL 4 out of 7 (57% responded) Based on the feedback collected from residents, Transportation Services is recommendingthat the current on-street parking regulations be amended to prohibit parking at any time on the west (even-numbered)sideof Mansion Street between Edna Street to a point approximately 49 metres south thereof.This will improve driveway access and safety for all road users. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the c vision through the delivery of core service. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The approximate cost for implementing signage along this section Mansion Street is $300 and will be taken from the existing sign maintenance budget. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM This report has been posted to the ciadvance of the council / committee meeting. Citizens were made aware of the proposed changes to the on-street parking regulations in this section of Mansion Street through a mail out sent in June 2017 CONSULT Directly affected citizens were surveyed regarding this proposed parking regulation change in July 2017.
