HERITAGE KITCHENER MINUTES
AUGUST 1, 2017 CITY OF KITCHENER
The Heritage Kitchener Committee met this date, commencing at 4:06 p.m.
Present: S. Miladinovic Acting Chair

1. CSD-17-067 - HERITAGE PERMIT APPLICATION HPA-2017-V-021

- ADDITION TO GARAGE
The Committee considered Community Services Department report CSD-17-067, dated July
10, 2017 recommending approval of a Heritage Permit Application (HPA) to permit the
construction of an addition to the garage on the property at 4 Park Street. Ms. A. Best-Sararas
presented the Report.
Mr. Paul Meier, Pioneer Craftsmen Ltd., was in attendance in support of the staff
recommendation.
The following motion was then voted on and was Carried Unanimously.
On motion by Councillor P. Singh -
it was resolved:
That pursuant to Section 42 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit Application
HPA-2017-V-021 be approved, as outlined in Community Services Department report
CSD-17-067, to permit the construction of an addition to the garage on the property
municipally addressed as 4 Park Street, in accordance with the plans and
supplementary information submitted with the application and subject to the following
conditions:
1. That the final building permit drawings be reviewed and heritage clearance
provided by Heritage Planning staff prior to the issuance of a building permit;
and further,
2. That changes to the addition consistent with the original location and design
as outlined in HPA-2017-V-021 be permitted subject to the submission of
revised site plan and building elevation drawings to be reviewed, in
conjunction with the Victoria Park Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation
District representative, and approved by Heritage Planning staff prior to
issuance of a building permit

- ALTERATIONS TO FRONT DOOR AND WINDOWS
- DEMOLITION AND CONSTRUCTION OF ADDITION
The Committee considered Community Services Department report CSD-17-066, dated July
12, 2017 recommending approval of a Heritage Permit Application (HPA) to permit alterations
(partial demolition, rehabilitation and new construction) on the property at 330 Joseph Schoerg
Crescent. Mr. L. Bensason presented the Report. The Committee was also in receipt this date
of a letter outlining opposition of the proposed development to the subject property.
Mr. Pat George, JHS Properties Inc., was in attendance in support of the staff
recommendation. In response to questions, Mr. George indicated he would explore the costs
associated with adding two false chimneys to the roof of the existing farmhouse structure. He
further explained there would be no clearcutting of trees on the subject property as part of the
new construction.

On motion by S. Strohack -
it was resolved:
That pursuant to Section 33 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit Application
HPA-2017-IV-022 be approved, as outlined in Community Services Department report
CSD-17-066, to permit the removal of the rear summer kitchen annex and two storey
verandah; the restoration of the existing front entry stoop; the replacement of the front
entry door; the replacement of the existing windows and sills; and the construction of an
addition with two car garage on the property municipally addressed as 330 Joseph
Schoerg Crescent, in accordance with the plans and supplementary information
submitted with the plans and supplementary information submitted with the application,
and subject to the following condition:
1. That the final building permit drawings be reviewed and heritage clearance
provided by Heritage Planning staff prior to the issuance of a building permit

Ms. K. Huxted advised the Heritage Kitchener Promotion Sub-
celebration marketing campaign was well received by the public and the media. She noted that
signs continue to be displayed across the city.
Mr. Bensason further provided details on the appreciation BBQ event for the Committee on
August 18, 2017, noting an invitation would follow shortly via email.
