SUBJECT: T17-116 Palo Alto Firewall
RECOMMENDATION:
That Tender T17-116 Palo Alto Firewall, be awarded to Teramach Technologies
Inc., Ottawa, Ontario, at their tendered price of $332,074.90, plus H.S.T. of
$43,169.74, for a total of $375,244.64, for a five (5) year term.
BACKGROUND:
The LED lighting conversion project included provisions within the budget for lighting
control software to run the lighting infrastructure. A secure integration with the LED
lighting control software will be enabled through this purchase of a next generation
firewall system that provides redundancy and advanced security capabilities to protect
the network from external threats.
REPORT:
Tenders were advertised publicly on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet
through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Documents
were downloaded by eight (8) interested parties and by the closing date of Thursday
August 10, 2017, two (2) tenders had been received.

Buyer, who concur with the above recommendation.
ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN:
The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city's strategic
vision through the delivery of core service.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The net cost for this tender (A), is fair and reasonable for a project of this scope and the
upset limit is within the budget allowance (B) provided within the budget. Funding for
this tender is included within the approved capital budget. The estimated surplus (D) is
held in the account until project completion and would reduce the LED lighting
conversion project payback period should it not be required for future work.
