McCormick, Manager,Parking Enterprise,519 741- 2200 x7155 WARD(S) INVOLVED:Ward10 DATE OF REPORT:October 3, 2017 REPORT NO.:INS-17-082 SUBJECT:Waterloo Region Police Service – Civic District Parking Agreement ___________________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATIONS: That Council enter into a five (5)year agreement satisfactory to the City Solicitor with the Waterloo Region Police Service to lease parking spaces at Civic District Parking Garage. BACKGROUND: The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is located at 134 Frederick Street, adjacent to the Civic District Parking Garage and hasrequested to enter into a parking agreement with the City of Kitchener. REPORT: WRPS current parking requirements are to accommodate their Central Division and Court Services Branch members including administration staff and three rotating police staff shifts on a 24/7 basis. Based on current demand and projections, staff has determined there is enough capacity within the garage to support WRPS’s request. ALIGNMENT WITH CITY OF KITCHENER STRATEGIC PLAN: The recommendation of this report supports the achievement of the city’s strategic vision through the delivery of core service. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. 2.- 1 FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The five year agreement supports revenue and operating budget projections for the next five years. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM – This report has been posted to the City’s website with the agenda in advance of the council / committee meeting. CONSULT – The Waterloo Region Police Service, the Kitchener Public Library Central Branch and the Centre in the Square were consulted in regards to the parking agreement.
