Hammoud, A. Sare, L. Gazzola, L. Trumper City Staff: L. Majcher, Manager of Strategy & Business Planning L. Korabo, Executive Assistant to the CAO J. MacDonald, Corporate Community Engagement Consultant 1. REPORT CARD WRITE UP REVIEW AND FEEDBACK Members of the committee were in general agreement that the first draft of the write up for the report card captures the main points that have been discussed by the committee to date, it sets the right tone for Council and provides enough information for the committee to assign grades in February. Writing styles are noticeably different and will need to be merged, and some of the points within the section on Neighbourhoods require elaboration. Staff will make some additional edits and bring it back to the committee in February for final review. Ms. L. Majcher informed the Committee that a brief introduction will be required, and there was some interest in providing concluding remarks. Staff will provide a rough draft based on previous content for the committees consideration in February. 2. CITIZENS REPORT CARD EVALUATION — EFFECTIVE & EFFICIENT CITY SERVICES Ms. L. Gazzola volunteered to prepare the write up for the Effective and Efficient City Services section of the report card. The committee identified the Civic Innovation Lab as a focal point of the City's progress, working in partnership with Communitech on the City's Digital Kitchener Strategy is an exciting approach. The City is building capability for innovation in City services which will drive ongoing improvements in many areas. Improvements to online customer service and registrations are having a real impact on citizen convenience. The City's continual focus on reviewing and improving service performance is reassuring to citizens, but most people are completely unaware of this work. It is encouraging to see the City's efforts to improve employee performance and workplace culture; these are important factors in providing good customer service. Emphasis needs to be put on the importance for the City to find succinct ways to share digestible pieces of information for people who want to know but don't have the time to read all of the reports and supporting documents. 3. COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION AMONG ALL COMMITTEES The Committee discussed the feedback from the All Committees' Gathering and agreed that there may be a number of opportunities to provide City of Kitchener Advisory Committees with the tools and processes that support more effective communication and collaboration among the different committees. Moving forward with these options will require an investment of time 1 Compass Kitchener Citizen Advisory Committee Minutes JANUARY 10, 2018 CITY OF KITCHENER 3. COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION AMONG ALL COMMITTEES and resources, and it is unclear at this point the extent to which members of all advisory committees would participate in these opportunities if available. The committee agreed to take a more 'collaborative' approach to the Spring 2018 meeting of chairs and vice chairs using existing tools such as ShareFile to gauge the level of interest before making recommendations to Council.
