Subject: Ontario Bike Summit
Overview
The Ontario Bike Summit is the premier cycling conference in Ontario. The summit
provides a forum for cycling stakeholders to be inspired by best practices from across
Ontario and beyond and to gain the practical skills necessary to act on that inspiration.
Learn from and network with professionals and volunteers from a diverse range of
sectors, including: provincial and municipal government, grassroots advocacy, health,
planning, engineering, tourism and more.
DATE: April 17 & 18, 2018
LOCATION: Intercontinental Toronto Centre, 225 Front St W Toronto
Expectations of Committee
Last year one member of the committee attended the event along with staff. We would
like to extend that invitation again this year and will ask that members consider their
desire to attend. Those names who are interested in attending will be put into a hat and
one member will be randomly selected to attend at this committee meeting. Registration
for the event will be covered by the City but all other costs will be the responsibility of
the committee member. If you are unable to attend the committee meeting but would
th
like to attend the event, please let staff know by February 12, so your name can be
included in the draw.

Subject: Cross-Advisory Committee Conversation
Overview
Interest has been shown in increasing communication and collaboration between the
advisory committees of the municipalities and the region which discuss active
transportation, trails and cycling. The committees involved are as follows:
Cambridge Trails Advisory Committee
Kitchener Cycling and Trails Advisory Committee
Region of Waterloo Active Transportation Advisory Committee
Waterloo Advisory Committee on Active Transportation
By arranging a meeting with representatives of each advisory committee in attendance,
there will be opportunities to discuss common goals and solutions to current issues.
Discussion should begin on the logistics of how this meeting will be arranged.
The City of Waterloo has already brought this item forward to their committee and they
have seen a benefit to having this meeting.
Expectations of Committee
Committee members are asked to consider logistics of this meeting and propose days
of the week and time of day, for the joint meeting to occur. Committee members are
also asked to consider location, as it can vary between the 4 committees.
Some early topic ideas suggested from The City of Waterloo include tourism
opportunities and identifying long term goals that are multi-jurisdictional. The City of
Waterloo has also provided their preferred times, which we be displayed during the
meeting.

Overview
At the last committee meeting in January, discussions occurred around how in depth
members want to change the terms of reference. Further to that, staff was unsure of
what requirements were needed in order to make the changes.
Since the January meeting, it has been advised that any change to the terms of
reference or name of the committee will need to be presented and approved by
Council.
Expectations of Committee
Prior to the meeting, committee members should be familiar with the current terms of
reference. During this meeting, members should identify changes they would like to see
to the name and/or terms of reference. Staff can take those changes and begin
amending the terms of conditions, in hopes of presenting a report to Council during the
summer of 2018.

2018 MUP and Trails Project List
Subject:
Overview
A brief summary of the upcoming multi-use pathway and trails projects approved by
council for 2018 will be provided to the committee, with an opportunity for questions
thereafter. Detailed project information will be presented at future meetings, as needed
by the individual projects and their project leads.
Expectations of Committee
As this list is already approved, this is an information session for the members in order
to keep them aware of current and upcoming city projects. However as always,
comments and observations from committee members on project elements is
encouraged.
