K-W Earth Day Information Sheet
Quick Facts
Purpose of the committee
To be a catalyst for local initiatives that promotes environmental sustainability,
integrity and conservation of the Citys resources and ecosystems, as well as to
provide input to protect maintain restore and enhance the environment within the

Municipality.
The committee is comprised of citizens from the city who have an academic
background, professional experience, and / or strong interest in environmental

stewardship.
How to get involved

The committee meets once a month on the 3Thursday. All meetings are
accessible to the public.
The public can attend as a spectator or they are able to register as a delegate and
speak to the committee regarding an issue. To attend a meeting the committee
administrator should be contacted. The administrator can be contacted through the

a) Environmental benefits include: air quality, water flow control, habitat for

b) Social benefits include: encouraging active lifestyles (such as nature walks),

as well as health benefits (mental and cognitive).
c) Economic benefits include: increasing property/home values, enhances

commercial activities.
