HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil - 2018-11-05 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 5, 2018 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 8:26 p.m. this date, chaired by Mayor B. Vrbanovic with all members present. Notice of this meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. 1. DSD -18-127 — 114-120 VICTORIA STREET SOUTH INC. — REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION TO MORATORIUM Council considered a recommendation arising from the Planning and Strategic Initiatives Committee meeting held earlier this date. Councillor P. Singh declared a pecuniary interest with respect to the request for exemption to moratorium for 114-120 Victoria Street South, as members of his family own property in the subject area. Moved by Councillor Y. Fernandes Seconded by Councillor S. Davey "That in accordance with Planning Act Section 45 (1.3 & 1.4) applications for minor variances shall be permitted for the lands municipally addressed as 114-120 Victoria Street South as depicted on the location map attached to Development Services Department report DSD -18- 127." Carried. COR -18-016 — EXECUTION OF TIEBACK/SHORING AGREEMENTS Council considered Corporate Services Department report COR -18-016 (T. Kalbfleisch Mazurka), dated November 2, 2018, regarding permitting shoring and the installation of tiebacks in the City of Kitchener's road allowances. Moved by Councillor K. Galloway-Sealock Seconded by Councillor B. loannidis "That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute Tieback/Shoring Agreements, satisfactory to the City Solicitor, with the developers of property in Kitchener to permit shoring and the installation of tiebacks in the City of Kitchener's road allowances." Carried. 3. BY-LAWS FOR THREE READINGS Moved by Councillor B. loannidis Seconded by Councillor Y. Fernandes "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2018-105 by the Clerk."
