SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES
CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 12:55 p.m. this date and Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all
members present, except Councillors M. Yantzi and John Smola.
Notice of this special meeting had previously been given to all members of Council by the City Clerk
pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
Council was in receipt of a report from L. Gordon, dated March 17, 1998 recommending the awarding of a
tender for the Pioneer Tower West Community Waste Water Pumping Station.
Moved by Councillor C. Weylie
Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
"That Tender T98-11, Pioneer Tower West Community Wastewater Pumping Station, be awarded
to Enviro-Con Engineering and Construction Ltd., Cambridge, at their tendered price of $461,170,
including G.S.T."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz
Seconded by Councillor T. Galloway
"That the City of Kitchener's Wilson Arena be renamed the Patrick J. Doherty Arena in recognition
of Mr. Doherty's contribution to minor sports at the local, provincial and national levels."
Carried
Mayor C. Zehr advised of two additional items for the in-camera meeting this date, both subject to
solicitor-client privilege.
Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
Seconded by Councillor K. Taylor-Harrison
"That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to
consider a personal matter, a labour relations/potential litigation matter and seven matters subject
to solicitor-client privilege."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor Jake Smola
Seconded by Councillor J. Ziegler
"That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and
proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be
finally passed and numbered 98-34 by the Clerk."
Carried.
On motion the meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
