HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Minutes - 1998-06-08 SCOUNCIL\1998-06-08-SPE JUNE 8, 1998 SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 12:05 p.m. this date and Chaired by Acting Mayor T. Galloway with the following members present: Councillors J. Ziegler, K. Taylor-Harrison, J. Haalboom, G. Lorentz and John Smola. Notice of this special meeting had previously been given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Council then considered a recommendation arising from the Finance and Administration Committee meeting of this date concerning an exemption from the City's Noise By-law relative to two upcoming music events. Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz Seconded by Councillor K. Taylor-Harrison "That two events entitled 'Crazy Mixed-Up Music Days' to take place at the Clock Tower Green in Victoria Park on June 13 and July 11, 1998 from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. be exempt from the provisions of Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code." Carried. Acting Mayor T. Galloway advised of several changes to the in-camera meeting agenda of this date; namely, deferral of the personal matter to June 22, 1998 and the addition of two items subject to solicitor- client privilege. Moved by Councillor John Smola Seconded by Councillor J. Haalboom "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following the special meeting to consider four matters subject to solicitor-client privilege; and further, That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 1998 to consider a labour relations matter." Carried. Moved by Councillor John Smola Seconded by Councillor J. Haalboom "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 98-67 by the Clerk." Carried. On motion the meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m. MAYOR CLERK
