Community Environmental Improvement Grant (CEIG)
The City offers this grant to organizations that undertake environmental stewardship projects.
Applications areaccepted from non-profit groups, neighbourhood associations and communityinterest
groups.
The objectives of the grant are to:
Increase awareness of how Kitchener residents view and treat air, water and land resources, and
encourage solutions to improve the quality of these resources;
Promote healthy lifestyle practices;
Foster a sense of environmental stewardship;
Promote and initiate thedevelopment of short term, intermediate and long term community-based
environmental programs; and,
Support environmental research.
A total of $5,000 is budgeted annually to the CEIG program, with the maximum grant of $3,000 to be
awarded to any one applicant.
Functions of the Sub Committee
JanuaryMembers are identified at the Environmental Committee meeting.
Review the 2019 CEIG applications included in the agenda package and be

present at the committee meeting for any CEIG presentations.
Teleconference with staff on either March 25 or 26 to assist in preparing a draft
March 25/26
recommendation of who should received 2019 CEIG funding.

If necessary, present the CEIG at a Planning and
MayStrategic Initiatives Committee (PSIC) meeting(any recommendation arising from
that Committee would be considered at the following Council meeting)
Ideally, the SubCommitteewill follow-up with the respective grant recipients
regarding
o the status of their project/program;
June -Nov
o the submission of any progress reports; and
o their attendance at a future meeting to provide anpresentation/update
on the status of the project/program
