HomeMy WebLinkAboutCompass Kitchener - 2019-02-19COMPASS KITCHENER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES FEBRUARY 19, 2019 CITY OF KITCHENER The Compass Kitchener Advisory Committee met this date, commencing at 4:10 p.m. Present: Ms. E. Duhaime, Ms. L. Trumper, Ms. M. Bowman and Messrs. A. Hammoud, O. Samad and R. Villamar Staff: K. Cooper, Manager, Strategic & Business Planning WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS Ms. Melissa Bowman and Mr. Roberto Villamar were welcomed to Compass Kitchener. Ms. Bowman and Mr. Villamar provided a brief introduction into their background and interest in applying for appointment to the Committee. COMPASS KITCHENER WORK PLAN Ms. K. Cooper circulated a draft 2019 work plan for the Committee's consideration and feedback. The main areas of responsibility were noted as: administration; work plan development; advisory committee collaboration; citizen report card preparation; and, strategic plan advice. On motion by Ms. L. Trumper — it was resolved: "That the 2019 Compass Kitchener Work Plan be forwarded to City Council" DEBRIEF — ALL ADVISORY COMMITTEES MEETING Committee members agreed that the event was a success and that valuable input into developing an evaluation framework for the new Strategic Plan was obtained. Committee members noted that the presence of youth at the event was refreshing. Committee members also expressed appreciation for City staff making the arrangements and for the CAO and General Managers attendance as table facilitators. REPORT CARD GRADING / FINALIZING WRITE UP The Committee was provided with a draft of the 2015-2018 Strategic Plan Progress Report and shared their comments and insights on the city's progress made in implementing the 2015-2018 Strategic Plan, based upon analysis of the status of projects contained in annual business plans during the same timeframe. The Committee considered Ms. Stephens -Wells' draft comments and agreed to use these as the basis for their Council report. Members provided additional comments which were also noted for inclusion. K. Cooper requested that members provide any additional comments to her by email and to complete their individual categorization of projects as to Caring, Vibrant and/or Innovative status and email that to her. Ms. K. Cooper advised that Council, at their strategic planning session, provided input and comments on the draft goal statements and example actions. The Corporate Leadership Team considered Council, staff and the advisory committees' comments and are revising the draft goals and actions. Staff will report to Council with revised draft goals and actions on April 1, 2019 and will embark on a public engagement program with a view to report back to Council with a recommended strategic plan in June 2019. It would be appreciated if Compass Kitchener would discuss the draft goals and statements at their April 3, 2019 meeting. OTHER BUSINESS - NIL ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. K.
