SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES
CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 12:00 noon this date and chaired by Mayor R. Christy, with
all members of Council present.
Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk
pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
Moved by Councillor J. Ziegler
Seconded by Councillor K. Redman
"That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to
consider a potential litigation matter and three matters relating to solicitor-client privilege."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz
Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
"That Kitchener Council has no objection to the request of the Brewers Retail Inc. for permission to
extend the Friday and Saturday hours of closing at the 2642 King Street East outlet until midnight
for a summer test beginning July 2, 1996."
Carried.
Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz
Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
"That notwithstanding By-law 96-53 (Street Vendors), and subject to obtaining the approval of the
Traffic and Parking Division of the Public Works Department, Mr. Oscar Majunke be granted
permission to locate a Refreshment Trailer on King Street in front of City Hall on June 28 and 29,
1996 only and further,
That Mr. Oscar Majunke be granted permission to operate Amusement Rides in the Civic Square
on June 28 and 29, 1996."
Carried.
Mayor R. Christy informed Council that earlier this date he opened the Office Place retail outlet on
Fairway Road, pointing out that it is the 32nd store opened by the company, and the largest of its kind in
Canada.
At the request of Mayor R. Christy, all those in attendance rose and observed one minute of silence in
memory of the Dombroskie-Burns children who tragically died in a recent fire at 268 The Country Way,
Kitchener. Mayor Christy also advised that he recently attended a ceremony for the children and
presented an In Memorium Certificate on behalf of Council.
On motion, the meeting adjourned.
