The Committee was in receipt of a staff report from Mr. B. Stanley, dated October 26, 1993, in this regard and Mr. Stanley was in attendance. Mr. Stanley advised that because of the improvements made to the Centennial Stadium, it now meets the criteria for these Championships. It was noted that this request is similar to one which was recently approved for baseball championships. Mr. Stanley advised that the baseball championship has been awarded to the City of Kitchener for 1995 and is receiving serious consideration for the subsequent four years. Councillor C. Zehr questioned whether there was a budget prepared for these events, as it helps to put the requested grant into perspective. The Committee was advised that a final budget has not yet been prepared; however, Mr. Stanley advised that this is not a highly profitable venture. Discussion also took place on economic spin-off to the community and over whether or not the City of Waterloo would be involved. Mr. L.
