ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
September 25, 2019 City of Kitchener
A meeting of the Economic Development Advisory Committee was held at 11:04 am this date,
chaired by M. Bingeman, and vice-chaired by B. Whittaker, with all members present, except
Councilor Johnson, Councilor Bil Ioannidis, John Lintzeris, and Matthew Krushack.

Discussion Items
1. Housekeeping + Schedule: M. Bingeman, Committee Chair
M. Bingeman led a conversation around the schedule of meetings and thoughts on how to
improve EDAC meetings moving forward. The resolution of the conversation was a desire for
staff to attempt to send any resources and presentations before meetings with the agenda as
much as possible. The committee also discussed a desire for M. Bingeman and B. Whittaker to
provide a purpose and objectives for each meeting to be sent out with minutes so that the
group could have better focus.
2. Make it Kitchener Engagement and Discussion: L. Chlumsky
L. Chlumsky provided a brief overview of the survey responses collected thus far briefly
going over demographics and industries that have been captured. After this the committee was
split into groups where they discussed generally how to keep people in Kitchener and went
over a list of ideas and themes that have been identified through consultation thus far to
consolidate them into categories.
The committee then discussed the timeline of the Make it Kitchener strategy and the
committees role in that process. October will be centered on reviewing the consultation
summary and research surrounding the topics it had identified. November will be reviewing
and discussing the direction for the draft strategy. It was also decided to move the November
th
EDAC meeting to November 13 to better align with the strategy timeline and due dates for
council.
