As a municipal strategy,Make it Kitcheneris unique as it is fundamentally based on partnerships and collaboration. With the current strategy expiring at the end of 2019, economic development staff have been engaging stakeholders and the public to better understand some of the significant changes affecting our community, and identifying potential actions, partnerships and investments that could be considered as part of the next strategy, Make it Kitchener 2.0. I would like to take the opportunity to meet with you during the December19, 2019 committee meeting and Make it Kitchener, an overview of the consultation process, what we heard, and cover emerging themes for the strategy, several of which put forward aspirations regarding sustainability, green business opportunities and the Grand River. What is being requested of the Committee? To engage in a group discussion on specific emerging themes that are relevant to the Committee, considering the following: Why specific areas of focus might be important? What successful initiativescould take place bythe year2030? Who plays a key role / how to create an environment for success? What actions might we take / what partnerships would be important?
