3. ELECTION of Terry Bax as incoming Director of the Belmont Village BIA. Nominated by Margaret Tofflemire amd
approved by all.
4. BESTIVAL Report by Tim Moher. We thanked Tim and Connie for an incredible and successful event. Tim said that with
growth, communications with businesses suffered, especially concerning parking availability. Discussion as to how this can be
done in future, eg earlier contact, posters for each business to post showing access to parking and where to park. Other methods?
Terry suggested a questionnaire for the business owners re: what can be done better? What would you like to see? Types of
sponsorship? Application for sponsorship included.
There were analytics for the first time this year, showing growth from Year 1 at 2 to 3,000 in attendance to 8,000 this year (year
3).
It was a 2 day event this year, which included Friday afternoon and evening as a literary event. This is because to apply for grants
in future it must be a 2 day event.
5. MONUMENT in Argyle Park (or elsewhere) to acknowledge those who had a great hand in establishing Belmont Village.
Valeria has had contacts with the City and is moving forward. There is a Neighbourhood Matching Group headed by the City that
may be one avenue moving forward There must be a criteria established for those who will be recognized. A "Historical
Committee" will be formed to research and develop a criteria.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT: Margaret presented the latest report, which was moved to accept by Jean Costelec and seconded by
Terry Bax and approved by all.
7. STREET LIGHTING: Report by Margaret. Electrical work is almost complete and we should have lighting for the fall and
winter season .... mini led lights in the trees in the main planting beds.
8. FRESH MARKET: was extremely successful this year thanks to Shauna Nelson, Chrismll, and their team of volunteers.
The initial cash float along with an additional $2000. has been returned to the BIA. The $2000. will be donated to Westmount
School and AR Kaufman school for their nutrition programs. The cheques will be presented at a Belmont Village Social in
October.
For next year, we will need a "square card reader" and 3 tables.
9. BELMONT SOCIAL: Terry proposed that we have a social and networking event to get business owners in the Village
together, and perhaps ask for donations to purchase the lights for the trees. Terry will speak to Arabella Park about this, and the
date of Monday, October 28, 2019 was set. If this goes ahead, Terry will design a flyer to be circulated by Sept. 30, 2019.
