Bingeman, and vice -chaired by B. Whittaker, with all members present, except Councillor Schnider and Councillor Johnston. STAFF: C. Bluhm, Executive Director of Economic Development B. Bennett, Manager of Business Development V. Boyle, Economic Development Assistant L. Chlumsky, Economic Researcher C. Farrell, Manager Small Business Centre Waterloo Region Discussion Items 1. Make it Kitchener - Group Discuss #1: C. Bluhm & L. Chlumsky The committee was given the choice to join one of two group discussions: A. Become a Leader in Social & Environmental Innovation & Green Technology or B. Develop a Significant Creative Industry. These discussion were run by C. Bluhm and L. Chlumsky. The groups took 45 minutes to complete this discussion. 2. Make it Kitchener Update: C. Bluhm & L. Chlumsky The committee was given the choice to join one of two group discussions: A. Become a City with a Distinct Night Time Experience & Community Vibe or B. Reimagine the Grand River as a Major Destination. These discussion were run by C. Bluhm and L. Chlumsky. The groups were given 50 minutes to complete this discussion. 3. Make it Kitchener Principals Wording: C. Bluhm & L. Chlumsky The committee discussed the wording and descriptions of the three Make it Kitchener Pillars: A City for Good, Best Quality of Life, and Continue to Lead. The committee discussed why/how these pillars are important for economic development and growth as well as how the titles and descriptions of the pillars might be rephrased to be more explicitly connected to economic development. Meeting adjourned @ 1:00pm.
