1. New year satisfaction survey
From: Darren Kropf, city staff
Overview
At January’s meeting, a satisfaction survey was distributed to gather feedback from
committee members on their experience so far. Staff will summarize responses and
facilitate discussion on key points.
Expectations of Committee
Committee members are asked to send their responses to staff in advance of this
meeting and be prepared to discuss further.
2. Name and mandate change of committee
From: Aaron McCrimmon-Jones, city staff
Overview
At January’s meeting, city staff presented the opportunity to change the name and
mandate of this committee. There was openness by committee members as well as
some questions and concerns. Further discussion will determine whether to continue
with a renewed mandate, and if so, what that mandate might look like.
Expectations of Committee
Committee members are asked to:
Review the committee’s current Terms of Reference, in advance of meeting
Research other cities’ Terms of Reference for similar committees, in advance of
meeting
Be prepared to answer the following questions:
1. Do you support a change of the committee’s mandate?
2. If yes, what new opportunities would you like to see included in the
committee’s mandate?
3. What concerns do you have if the mandate is changed?
Pass a motion in favour of exploring a renewed mandate or to keep the current
mandate.
Consider volunteering to be part of a smaller subcommittee that drafts and
proposes a new terms of reference for committee approval (if motion is passed
in this direction)
3. Winter Bike Day
From: Darren Kropf, city staff
Kitchener Cycling and Trails Advisory Committee
Overview
A worldwide campaign, Winter Bike Day aims to demystify the practice of winter cycling
and create awareness that ordinary people can ride their bicycles year round. If you can
walk in the winter, you can ride a bike in the winter.

4. Future cycling and trails events
From: Darren Kropf, city staff
Overview
At the committee’s October 2019 meeting, the committee discussed the future of
BikeFest and options for revamping it or replacing it. The committee seemed most
interested in a move towards a series of cycling related events integrated with other
community events, rather than a stand-alone BikeFest.
If the committee wishes to proceed in this direction, some options for events that
highlight recent infrastructure investments include:
June 13: Neighbours Day?
Late June/July: Iron Horse Trail celebration
August: ?
September: Belmont Village Bestival
The city’s Bike Check service will also be present at the following events in 2020:
June 13: Neighbours Day at Stanley Park Community Centre
June 27-28: Multicultural Festival at Victoria Park
July 10-11: Kultrun World Music Festival at Victoria Park
July 17-19: Ribfest and Craft Beer Festival
Kitchener Cycling and Trails Advisory Committee
Aug 6-9: Kitchener Blues Festival
Aug 16: Kidspark
Sept 19: Belmont Village Bestival
Expectations of Committee
Committee members are asked to provide a motion in support of replacing BikeFest,
with a focus on several smaller events throughout the year. If the motion passes,
committee members will break into groups to do brainstorming on each event,
identifying potential target audiences, partners and activities.
5. Advisory Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs Meeting
