HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOR-20-011 - Memorandum of Settlement - CUPE 791 REPORT TO: Council DATE OF MEETING: September 14, 2020 SUBMITTED BY: David Stockdale, Manager, Employee Relations and Recruitment 519-741-2200 x 7251 PREPARED BY: David Stockdale, Manager, Employee Relations and Recruitment 519-741-2200 x 7251 WARD (S) INVOLVED: N/A DATE OF REPORT: September 14, 2020 REPORT NO.: COR-20-011 SUBJECT: Memorandum of Settlement, CUPE 791 ___________________________________________________________________________ RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the terms and conditions contained in the Memorandum of Settlement dated August 14, 2020 to establish the 2020-2021 Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 791; That the wage adjustments negotiated with CUPE 791 be applied to non- union/management positions consistent with the City's approach to joint job evaluation; That the wage settlements for 2020 be applied to 9000 series positions; And further, that the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized to execute documentation arising there from. · BACKGROUND: Following a series of collective bargaining meetings, the last occurring on June 11, 2020, and subsequent meetings following caucus direction received from Council on August 10, 2020, negotiating teams for CUPE Local 791 and the Corporation reached a tentative settlement for a renewal of the Collective Agreement covering the period April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. REPORT: The purpose of the recommendation is for Council to ratify the terms and conditions contained within the tentative settlement. CUPE 791 ratified the tentative settlement on September 3, 2020 *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. To ensure compliance with pay equity obligations, the negotiated wage adjustments will also be applied to non-union/management positions given that these positions are part of the same joint job evaluation system as CUPE 791 positions. In addition, the applicable wage adjustment will also be applied to 9000 series positions for the year 2020. (9000 series positions are part-time, casual and summer employees not covered by any of the collective agreements). FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The proposed settlement with CUPE 791 will be funded from within the approved 2020 operating budget.
