Discussion Items
1. Round table Discussion:
o Reconnecting
The group has not been able to meet since February due to the Pandemic.
Everyone had a turn to speak their thoughts.
o Interest in Remaining on Committee
Due to the circumstances of the Pandemic it was made clear that there is no
obligation to stay as members on the committee. All who attended the meeting are
still interested in remaining on the committee
2. Reintroduction of Outstanding Work plans
o Breaking the Silence Report (Charlie Davis)
The report was done as a local research project. Before the pandemic, the
subcommittee was hoping to invite the Co-chair of the Rainbow Committee to
present the report as there was likely work directly linked to the report that this
committee could have initiated. It was decided now might not be the ideal time to
take on more work as there are only three meetings remaining for this committee's
term.
3. Membership Application date for next committee Term
o All current advisory/board members must submit a new application to be
considered for the next term.
o Applications close at midnight on Sunday September 27, 2020.
o Details with how to apply were sent via email
4. Mayor's Task Force on Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion
Committee update - LoriAnn Palubeski
o One meeting so far
o The committee wrote a letter to both Federal and Provincial Governments to
request data collection during the pandemic
o Due to the recent social issues i.e. Black Lives Matter there may be a different
focus on the work plan
5. Reopening plan for City of Kitchener— Mark Hildebrand
o The City of Kitchener has been taking the lead from the Province and their
Framework for Reopening the Province and Regional Public Health and are slowly
entering into Phase 3
o Phase 1 — Protect & Support
o Phase 2 — Restart
o Phase 3 — Recover

Roundtable discussion regarding moving forward. Thinking about what to do
next as previous work plan has been completed.
o What does it make sense to do now to the end of December?
Priorities have shifted due to the Pandemic. It was discussed that putting
together a report of the work already completed as well as, recommendations for
the direction of the work for the new group starting in January would help to focus
the workplan right away.
