BELMONT IMPROVEMENT AREA
BOARD OF MANAGEMENT MEETING- MINUTES June 15, 2021
Present: Linda Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Margaret Johnston, Margaret Toffelmire, Jean
Costelec, George Broughton, Susan Parks, Tim Moyer, J D Zehr, Lina Shamoun, Jesse
Treneer, Krysta Traianovski.
1. Tim gave a review on the Bestival. It will run all summer, One act per day at different
locations. Art funding- Artist and Musicians in different locations around the village.
Supper Saturdays-Activities though out the Belmont. Bestival has rented a stage for
Musicians. Zehr Group is having Bestival use their space at 660. Regulations will
determine how many people are allowed at these events for Bestival. T-shirts and Bags
will be sold for this, and gift cards will be given out from local businesses.
2. J D lighting in the trees looks great. More lights in the Village would look wonderful.
3. Margaret presented the financial report, George motioned to approve, Linda seconded
and all board members were in favour.
4 .Minutes for March 16 BIA meeting- Kyle motioned to approve, Jean seconded and all
board members were in favour.
5 .Digital Team- Susan Parks, Jesse Treneer, Lina Shamoun, George Broughton, Krysta
Traianovsk, they are doing fantastic on engaging people. The BIA website, we want it to
be controlled by the BIA, so if any one member leaves we still have control as a BIA.
Great group of super talented people, we look forward to their results.
6 .Vote on Emerge Digital termination- and direct these funds we would of paid them to
our own Digital Team. George made motion to terminate Emerge Digital, Linda
seconded and all board members were in favour.
7. Banner replacement- Jean was checking into them, JD motioned to put the banners on
hold, Margaret seconded and all board members were in favor. Maybe we can find a cost
effective way to promote in the village
8. Storage of planter pot and other BIA property in off season- a storage unit 8x8x40 will
cost 280.00 per month down on Gage St. Unit would be very close to the Village. George
and Lina will try to negotiate the price.
9. Tip Tap was pulled because it was not working.
10. Free Little Library- moving library around the Village, create some interest, someone
would have to check it each day or week. Susie put forward a motion to have one in the
village, George seconded and all board members were in favor.
11. Digital Meeting- to be announced, all invited to share ideas. Next BIA Meeting is
Aug 3, 2021.
