1. Commencement
The Heritage Kitchener Committee held an electronic meeting this date

2. Discussion Items
2.1 Heritage Permit Application HPA-2022-IV-005 - 122 Frederick Street -
Proposed Roof Replacement, DSD-2022-151
The Committee considered Development Services Department report DSD-2022-
151, dated March 14, 2022, recommending approval of Heritage Permit
1
Application (HPA) HPA-2022-IV-005 to permit the installation of a new roof
system on the property municipally addressed as 122 Frederick Street.
D. Choudhry presented an overview of the repairs necessary to replace the roof.
D. Choudhry highlighted that the roof is not designated as a heritage element.
Further, D. Choudhry reported that the heritage contributing characteristics,
including the street-facing roofline and parapets, would not be affected or would
be replaced in kind.
Councillor C. Michaud and member R. Schwarz joined the meeting at this time.
In response to questions from the Committee, M. Williams, GA Masonry,
confirmed the intent to salvage the existing capstone and that repairs would be
focused on the interior wall of the parapet. A. TenBruggencate explained that the
City had made temporary repairs to previous water damage to the interior
drywall, and the proposed roof repairs were intended to address the source of
the leaks.
Moved by P. Ciuciura
it was resolved:
"That pursuant to Section 33 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit
Application HPA-2022-IV-005 be approved to permit the installation of a
new roof system on the property municipally addressed as 122 Frederick
Street, in accordance with the supporting information submitted with the
application."
