The City remains committed to safety of our patrons and staff and continue to facilitate electronic meeting participation for members of the public. Compass Kitchener all advisory committees meeting From: Matt Rodrigues, chair, Vicci Hand, vice-chair Overview Compass Kitchener hosted a meeting for all of the advisory committees with the City of Kitchener. Workshops focused on the creation of a 2023-2026 Strategic Plan and “Doughnut” Economics. Expectations of Committee For information and discussion. 2. Bike Month From: Ilektra Sota, Active Transportation Marketing and Events Student Overview Bike Month is celebrated annually in June by municipalities, organizations and workplaces. Bike Month is an opportunity for people to try riding a bike for the first time, learn new skills, or simply have fun and connect with new people. The city is planning three events in partnership with various groups and organizations: Name Date -Time Location Description A fun and safe space for BIPOC-identifying communities to experience all the joys of Saturday, June BIPOC Bike Gaukel cycling. Learn new skills from trained 11 Day Street instructors and go for small group rides 1:00-4:00 PM around the city, plus activities, music, refreshments, and more! Families and individuals are invited to showcase their unique bikes in a “classic car show” style event – but for bikes of all kinds! Cargo Bike Sunday, June 12 Gaukel Bring your cargo bikes, long-tail bikes, e- Show & Ride 2:00 – 4:00 PM Street bikes or trailers and share how your family gets around by bike. Plus enjoy a group bike ride, ending at King StrEATery. The City of Kitchener is celebrating Pride KW month and is inviting local 2SLGBTQ+ Counselling communities for a bike ride. Participants will Friday, June 17 Services Pride Ride gather at 7 PM and will bike together around 7:00 – 9:00 PM the city, bringing visibility to local 2SLGBTQ+ 480 Charles communities in celebrating Pride Month and Street East Bike Month. Ontario Bike Summit recap From: Ivan Balaban, city staff Overview The Ontario Bike Summit is the premier cycling conference in Ontario, hosted by Share the Road coalition and partners. This year’s theme is “Resilience through Bicycle Friendly Communities” and was attended by Bart Forwell on behalf of ATTAC and Ivan Balaban. Expectations of Committee For information. 5.
