Commencement A special electronic meeting of City Council was held at 2:30 p.m. this date, chaired by Mayor B. Vrbanovic. Notice of this meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. The electronic meeting began with a Land Acknowledgement given by the Mayor. 2. Staff Reports 2.1 Addendum Report to DSD -2022-260: Regional Official Plan Review Draft Land Needs Assessment Council considered report DSD -2022-260 entitled Regional Official Plan Review - Draft Land Needs Assessment dated May 25, 2022 and Addendum Report DSD - 2022 -291 dated June 3, 2022, related to the Region of Waterloo's Draft Land Needs Assessment (LNA), which includes important implications of the three growth options proposed by the Region for the City, which was recessed from a Special Council meeting earlier this date. Council was also in receipt of written submissions from Sally Gunz, Shane Mulligan, Paul Britton, Dawn Parker, Jonathan Rodger - Grambian Investments Inc., Kai Reimer -Watts, Gail Schenk, 2163846 Ontario Inc. (Branthaven). Tim Donegani, Senior Planner and Natalie Goss, Manager, Policy & Research were in attendance to respond to questions from Council. Sam Nabi, Waterloo Region Hold the Line, addressed Council related to education and advocacy to maintain the countryside line, noting support for Options 3 or Option 4 that was put forward by the community. S. Nabi stated where possible the Designated Greenfield Area (DGA) needs to be protected and should not be proposed for development. S. Nabi responded to questions from Council. Moved by Councillor P. Singh Seconded by Councillor C. Michaud "That consideration of the Regional Official Plan - Land Needs Assessment outlined in Development Services Department report DSD - 2022 -260 and Development Services Department Addendum report DSD - 2022 -260 be deferred to a Special Council meeting on June 13, 2022 to allow additional time to receive supplementary information from the Region of Waterloo, to ensure Kitchener Council's comments and preferred growth alternative are adequately informed."
