Florence, Volunteer Engagement Associate, Neighbourhood Programs and Services 1.Acceptance of agenda Mover: C.AnjariaCarried 2.Declaration of conflict of interest None DELEGATIONS/PRESENTATIONS 3.Arts and Culture Advisory Committee End of Term Evaluation:M. Pender, R. Florence M. Pender and R. Florence are seeking feedback from members on their volunteer engagement in the committee. This will support efforts to: -evaluate the structure of the committee -evaluate the volunteer experience -understand the work being done -determine which aspects work and which ones need improvement Staff from Volunteer Engagement will return to meet with ACAC in October and November. In October they will lead a facilitated discussion to reflect broadly and in November, those reflections and discussion points will inform suggestions of any changes. Action: staff to send survey ahead of time to prepare members for the discussion DISCUSSION ITEMS: none INFORMATION ITEMS 4.City updates: staff E. Rumble shared that the second edition of The Beasting will be showcased as an illumination atLumen Festival in Uptown Waterloo. The Beastagon will also be on display. This is a free evening festival and will expose a broader public to the project and the creativity of the artists that participated. On October 1, the projection and the Beastagon along with an art installation and exhibition will take place at 44Gaukel. This is a free event open to the public, from 3p.m. to 7p.m. 44 Gaukel Creative Hub is at 100% tenant occupancy. The Arts and Creative team worked with the Kitchener Market staff to put out a call for submissions for severalmurals with funding support from the Downtown BIA. The call for public art proposals for the newSouthwest Branch of the KPL, will be released soon. K. Varin shared that Bangishimo Johnston’s presentation supported by comments from A. Girard representing PAWG and ACAC, were very well received by Council. B. Johnston was recommended by PAWG and ACAC as the 2022 Artist in Residence. Council voted to select B. Johnston as the next artist in residence. The Rotunda Gallery and the Berlin Tower Artspace have resumed exhibiting artists, switching to a bi-monthly schedule. There is a talk taking place by artist Dwight Storring as part of the AIR25 exhibition, on September 26 at 7 p.m. It is virtual and free. The exhibition continues till November 6. 5.Downtown Action and Advisory Committee J. Paquette resigned, and no re-appointment has been made. No updates. 6.Economic Development Advisory Committee: I. Stefanescu No meeting was held. 7.Public Art Working Group: A. Girard No meeting was held. 8.Council report: Councillor Dave Schnider Council is in midst of elections. Standing Committee approved the 2022 Artist in Residence recommendation and will execute final approval next week. 9.Member updates A.Girardprovided updates.I. Stefanescuasked questions about fees related to participation in the Creative Cities Network Conference. Themeeting was adjourned at 4:57p.m. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, October 18,4:00 p.m., Zoom.
