Musselman, Senior Environmental Planner COMMENCEMENT The Climate Change and Environment Committee began this date at 4:03 p.m. with a Land Acknowledgement given by the Chair. DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTERESTS None. DELEGATIONS None. 1. TRANSFORM WR PROGRESS UPDATE AM. Cipriani opened the floor to any discussion or questions related to the TransformWR report provided in the agenda package. Committee members posed clarifying questions on what falls within the scope of work for the City of Kitchener’s Corporate Climate Action Plan when it comes to the targets outlined in the TransformWR plan. 2. CLIMATE CHANGE & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE WORK PLAN DISCUSSION AM. Cipriani and C. Musselman provided an overview of how the Climate Change and Environment Committee work plan should identify priority environmental issues and actions which align with the City’s Strategic Plan, Strategic Plan for the Environment, Corporate Climate Action Plan and TransformWR Climate Action Strategy. It was noted that sub-committees cannot meet or exceed quorum. S. Lodenquai will circulate the committee members contact details and a shared document for the purpose of collaboration to the broader committee by email. 3. CLIMATE CHANGE & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING FORMAT: IN-PERSON VS. VIRTUAL Committee members reviewed the draft version of the proposed committee schedule which includes alternating between an in-person and virtual format beginning September 2023 until December 2023. On motion by B. Wallis – It was resolved: “That the Climate Change and Environment Committee adopt an alternating schedule between in-person and virtual format for September 2023 until December 2023.” Carried NEW BUSINESS None.
