Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature Thereof From: Ivan J Balaban, City of Kitchener Overview Committee members are to review the agenda and disclose if they have any conflicts of interest with any items listed. If they do, they will be required to sit in the gallery during that particular item and refrain from participating in any discussion or voting on said item. Volunteer Appreciation Week From: Darren Kropf, City of Kitchener Overview The National Volunteer Week theme for 2023 is “Volunteering Weaves us Together.” This reveals the importance of volunteering to the strength and vibrancy of our communities through the interconnected actions we take to support one another. These diverse forms of sharing our time, talent and energy strengthen the fabric of our community. Thank you for volunteering and making our community a better place! DMAF Schneider & Shoemaker Creek Restoration From: Chris Nechacov, City of Kitchener Overview An Environmental Assessment is taking place for the naturalization of the confluence of Schneider and Shoemaker Creeks. The current creeks are concrete-lined channels with the Iron Horse Trail running adjacent to them. The study will look at options for the creek alignment which may alter the existing layout of the Iron Horse Trail as well. Neuron Mobility - Presentation From: Isaac Ransom and Ankush Karwal, Neuron Mobility Overview The City has partnered with the Region of Waterloo, as well as the Cities of Waterloo and Cambridge to introduce a Shared Micromobility Service Provider to the Region. The Region put out an RFP last summer, and Neuron Mobility was the successful proponent. A team from Neuron will be present to introduce the service to the Committee, as well as answer any questions. Iron Horse Trail Delta Extension – Opening Event From: Darren Kropf, Vicci Hand Overview The conversion of Delta Street near Rockway Gardens into an extension of the Iron Horse Trail is complete! City Parks & Cemeteries and Transportation staff, in collaboration with the Active Transportation and Trails Advisory Committee, will be hosting a small event to celebrate the opening of the trail. th The event is expected to take place on Thursday May 4 from 6 - 7 p.m. City Councillors and the Media have been invited. E-bike subsidy - council motion From: Councilor Aislinn Clancy, City of Kitchener Kitchener Active Transportation and Trails Advisory Committee Overview Councilor Clancy presented a motion to City Council on April 17, 2023 calling on the Federal Government to do more to support e-bike adoption through a subsidy program. Hiking Improvements Subcommittee Workplan Update From: Philip Charbonneau, Emily Bennett, Hiking Improvements Subcommittee Overview The Hiking Improvements Subcommittee will present on their updated workplan. Highway 85 ramp closure at Lancaster Street West From: Philip Charbonneau, Committee Member Overview The Regional of Waterloo Council recently voted to close the Highway 85 – Lancaster Street West ramps. Earlier, Kitchener City Council voted to request the Region to keep the ramps open. A final ratification vote is still required by Region of Waterloo Council.
