Overview
Committee members are to review the agenda and disclose if they have any conflicts of
interest with any items listed. If they do, they will be required to sit in the gallery during
that particular item and refrain from participating in any discussion or voting on said

2. Land Acknowledgement (5 minutes)

I (we) would like to begin by acknowledging the land on which we gather today,
recognizing that the city of Kitchener is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the traditional
territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee Peoples. I (we) would also
like to acknowledge the enduring knowledge, presence and deep-rooted traditions of
the First Nations, Métis and Inuit who continue to enrich our community to this day.

3. Bramm Yards Community Engagement (40 minutes)

Overview
The City of Kitchener’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan identified the need to develop a
master plan for the Bramm Yards development site (55 Bramm Street and 130 Park
Street). The Bramm Yards is part of a larger vision for the Innovation District and UW
Health Sciences Campus.
The community engagement project is to acquire the input of residents and
stakeholders on the proposed Vision and Development Principles that will form the
foundation of the Bramm Yards Master Plan and land development process. More

4. Cycling Equity Toolkit (15 minutes)

Overview
This Cycling Equity Toolkit is authored by Jay Pitter and developed through a
collaborative process that engaged eight cycling and active transportation organizations
across Canada. The Toolkit is evidence-based and contains key practice
principles, frameworks, research demonstrating the dimensions of inequity, and
precedents reflecting emerging equitable practices and policies. It also contains
numerous reflection questions with form-fillable boxes, checklists and real-world
recommendations to help readers integrate their background knowledge and specific
context with new learnings. Ultimately, the Cycling Equity Toolkit has been developed to
prompt personal reflection, professional development and organizational transformation.

5. Dutch Cycling Embassy (20 minutes)

Overview
A report on the Dutch Cycling Embassy workshop for the City of Kitchener on 2023-08-
15. It is normally a 3 day event, but was compressed to 1 day. They are a collaboration
of private companies, NGOs, research institutions, national and local governments that
provides expertise, collaboration, and consultation on improving urban infrastructure.
Key takeaways of the workshop include: motivations of cost savings and safety, the
battles in the transition away from motor vehicles, Vision Zero safety initiative, leading
engineering designs for safer infrastructure, the need to support community, education,
and the different supports available.

6. Active Transportation Progress Report recap (15 minutes)

Overview
A progress report on active transportation was presented to Kitchener City Council on
September 18, 2023. Rida was a delegation on behalf of ATTAC and will share a recap
of the discussion.

7. Councilor Bike Rides – Summary (10 minutes)
From: Phillip Charbonneau, Josh Orita, ATTAC members
Overview
This year, City staff are inviting all Councillors to participate in a bike ride in their ward to
visit past, current, and future projects from the Cycling and Trails Master Plan. A
volunteer from ATTAC will attend each of these rides. Since our last meeting, rides
were held in Wards 1 and 2.
