HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Minutes - 2004-11-22 SSPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 22, 2004 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 11:07 a.m. this date, Chaired by Acting Mayor C. Weylie and with all members present except Mayor C. Zehr and Councillors B. Vrbanovic and J. Gazzola. Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Council considered Development & Technical Services Department report DTS-04-175 (J. Willmer), dated November 9, 2004, requesting permission to construct a rear dormer addition to 21 Dill Street, located in the Victoria Park Heritage Conservation District. Moved by Councillor M. Galloway Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz "That pursuant to Section 42 of the Ontario Heritage Act, Heritage Permit Application HPA 2004-V-010 (21 Dill Street) be approved to permit construction of a third-storey rear dormer addition, as shown on the plans submitted with the application." Carried. Council was reminded of the notice given by G. Sosnoski, General Manager of Corporate Services & City Clerk, with respect to an additional item for Council's consideration at this special meeting. Council was advised that this item will be considered following the Finance and Corporate Services Committee meeting this date. Moved by Councillor J. Smola Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to consider a personal matter and three matters subject to solicitor-client privilege." Carried. The meeting then recessed at 11:08 a.m. and re-convened at 4:10 p.m. Chaired by Mayor C. Zehr and with all members present except Councillor B. Vrbanovic. Council considered a recommendation from the Finance and Corporate Services Committee meeting held this date regarding the relocation of the Turf Club, an off-track betting establishment, from 4263B King Street East to 2880 King Street East. Moved by Councillor C. Weylie Seconded by Councillor J. Smola "That the City of Kitchener has no objection to the Turf Club Inc. relocating from its present location at 4263B King Street East to 2880 King Street East, Kitchener, subject to the applicant meeting all business licence requirements and obtaining the necessary fire safety approvals and further, That the City has no objection to the licensing of this facility subject to meeting all liquor licensing, health and safety requirements." Carried. Moved by Councillor J. Gazzola Seconded by Councillor M. Galloway "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2004-213 by the Clerk."
