SUBJECT: 2024 Committee Member Appointments Arts and Culture Advisory
Committee
RECOMMENDATION:
That effective immediately Olufunmilayo Ajibade be appointed as the one (1) Arts
Educator for the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for a term ending November 14,
2024; and further
That effective immediately Julie Hall be appointed as one (1) Arts Organization for the
Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for a term ending November 14, 2024.
REPORT HIGHLIGHTS:
The purpose of this report is to appoint new members to the Arts and Culture Advisory
Committee, due to the resignation of previously appointed members.
This report supports the delivery of core services
BACKGROUND:
On November 16, 2022, Council appointed citizens and members of Council to various advisory
committees, boards, and special committees for the current term. At the Striking Committee
meeting, twelve (12) individuals were appointed to the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for
the term ending November 14, 2024.
On October 16, 2023, Chidi Nwene (city resident) and Brenda Reid (practicing artist) were
appointed to fill two of the three vacancies arising from the resignations of Mark Waddell (city
resident) and Anna McWebb (arts educator) and passing of Chandrika Anjaria (arts organization
representative). The Arts Organization representative vacancy remained.
REPORT:
On February 9, 2024 Canan Altinkas (practicing artist) resigned, leaving the Arts and Culture
Advisory Committee with 2 vacancies, 1 arts organization representative and one arts educator.

The candidates from the most recent recruitment were contacted to determine interest and
availability. The Nominating Committee considered the applications and recommended that
Olufunmilayo Ajibade fill the Arts Educator vacancy and Julie Hall be appointed as one (1) Arts
Organization member as the member is also a practising artist. In accordance with the
Appointments to Boards and Committees Policy (GOV-BOA-063) the members will be appointed
for the remainder of the current term, ending November 14, 2024 and advised of the ability to
re-apply if they wish to continue to serve on the Committee.

Capital Budget The recommendation has no impact on the Capital Budget.
Operating Budget The recommendation has no impact on the Operating Budget.

vacancies.
COLLABORATE The Program Administrator for Arts & Creative Industries and Committee
Administrator for the Committee collaborated on the report and recommendation.
