HomeMy WebLinkAboutCAO-2024-151 - Resolution of Support for AMO Board Nomination (Dan Chapman) www.kitchener.ca REPORT TO: Special Council DATE OF MEETING: March 25, 2024 SUBMITTED BY: Dan Chapman, Chief Administrative Officer, 519-741-2200 x 7350 PREPARED BY: Allison Remillard, Executive Assistant, 519-741-2200 ext. 7092 WARD(S) INVOLVED: n/a DATE OF REPORT: March 22, 2024 REPORT NO.: CAO-2024-151 SUBJECT: Resolution of Support for AMO Board Nomination (Dan Chapman) RECOMMENDATION: THAT the Council of the City of Kitchener nominate Dan Chapman, Chief Administrative Officer, for the position of Secretary-Treasurer on the AMO Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term, including the cost of reasonable expenses associated with Board membership. REPORT HIGHLIGHTS: The purpose of this report is to obtain support for the nomination of Dan Chapman for a position on the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Board of Directors. The financial implications are limited to travel costs to attend in-person Board meetings, which are primarily held in Toronto six times per year. BACKGROUND: On November 23, 2020, Council passed a resolution of support nominating D. Chapman for the position of Large Urban Caucus municipal employee representative in response to an Expression of Interest to fill board vacancies. This appointment was renewed in 2022 through the Board elections and is set to expire in August 2024. REPORT: The Association of Municipalities of Ontario will be releasing a Call for Nominations for the 2022- 2024 Board of Directors in April. Applications and a supporting Council resolution are due to be submitted by June. D. Chapman is interested in continuing with his Board involvement as an advocate on behalf of the municipality and continuing his involvement with policy development at the Provincial level. *** This information is available in accessible formats upon request. *** Please call 519-741-2345 or TTY 1-866-969-9994 for assistance. STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT: This report supports the delivery of core services. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Capital Budget The recommendation has no impact on the Capital Budget. Operating Budget The City would typically cover the costs of travel (primarily to Toronto) for six meetings per year. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INFORM This report council / committee meeting.
