Since a quorum was not achieved it was decided to defer approval of the minutes to the next
meeting. It was pointed out, however, that on Page 2, Safe City Committee Priorities, 1st
Paragraph, Last sentence should read:
"She indicated that they had narrowed down the types of projects that could be used as
Funding Proposal Submissions and had listed them on the different flip charts sheets that
were attached to the walls in the meeting room."
Brock circulated a draft copy of the report that he wrote with the help of Julie Dean and
Barbara Steiner. He reviewed the report and indicated that if anyone wished to submit
changes or suggestions they could contact him directly.
During review of the report the following suggestions were made:
· Include partnerships that have started with other committees, neighbourhood
association's etc..
· It should be noted that the Smiles & Chuckles Site Plan was reviewed by the
committee.

Julie Dean referred to the report that was circulated and is attached to the minutes. She
reviewed the report and the following suggestions were made:
That the items referring to Community Mental Health Association (CMHA) and
Community Access to City Facilities be added as Future Agenda Items for further
discussion.
During review of the section on the Lighting Working Group Julie pointed out that the working
rd
group would be having a meeting on Tuesday, March 23 from 8:00 - 10:00 am and inquired
if there were any more volunteers who would like to participate on this working group. Coun.
Mark Yantzi agreed to check to see if any other Councillors would like to participate on this
working group.
Julie Dean explained that at the February 10, 1999 meeting we had just reviewed the list of
priorities that were available to submit Funding Proposals for. Today we must decide on
which priorities we wish to continue to complete in 1999 and those we wish to move into the
year 2000. It was noted that there are too many priorities for the current year and some must
be postponed.

Attached is a new list of priorities for 1999 which take into consideration the comments and
suggestions made during this review. During review of these priorities the following items
were discussed:
· It was decided that Roger Wyatt would attend the Lighting Working Group meeting to
discuss his suggestion of contacting Conestoga College to see if they would like to
help in designing graphics and handouts as well as helping with marketing the "Porch
Lights On" Campaign. He indicated that he would try to contact the College before the
meeting to find out if they are interested in our proposal.
· Dennis Schnarr indicated that he will check around in his community for volunteers to
help with a "Porch Lights On" Campaign to be started as a Pilot Program in his area.
· It was suggested that we look into submitting an application for the Summer Seed
Funds that are available for hiring a student. Trudy Beaulne indicated that she would
forward the information to Julie Dean for further review.
