Absent:
Dennis Schnarr, Julie Dean, Bob Arnot and Avril Tanner (minutes).
Coun. Karen Taylor-Harrison, Coun. Mark Yantzi, Sandro Bassanese,
and Steve Bongelli.
Following discussions from the February 2, 1999 meeting regarding the Proposed Mutual
Group Parking Lot the following motion was made:
The Safe City Committee would prefer to see as much of the streetscape as possible, on Park
Street and Mt. Hope Street maintained and actively occupied even if for non-residential uses.
If the houses are demolished, there will be an impact on the safety of the neighbourhood as it
would increase both the perception and reality of isolation.

CARRIED.
In the absence of both of the Safe City Committee's Co-Chairs the Committee appointed
Brock Stanley to act as Chair for today's meeting.
Julie Dean explained that a few of the committee members had met to determine which
priorities would be appropriate for Funding Proposal Submissions. She indicated that they
had narrowed down the types of projects that could be used as Funding Proposal
Submissions and had listed them on the different fip chart sheets that were attached to the
walls in the meeting room.
She then reviewed the backgrounds of each of the Projects for the Committee and explained
that we would like to choose one Project to be completed in the Suburbs, one project with
Youth.
Julie then circulated the attached updated list of priorities for 1999 and the committee
members then voted on their Top 3 Choices for Funding Proposal Submissions. The results
from the Top Choices are attached.
